CLOUDY HOUSE,
COPENHAGEN
This project is an extension and renovation of a 1930s residence north of Copenhagen. It adds a new living room and a bedroom to the existing house. The living room has a studio-like atmosphere, with a translucent box that serves as a loft and floats like a cloud in the spacious room. The box extends beyond the roof and floods the room with natural light. The windows align with the house's inner walls and follow the original window openings to create a seamless connection between the old and the new. The wooden structure of the extension highlights the contrast and continuity between the new and the existing. The design of the extension creates new outdoor areas with terraces and built-in benches that are integrated into the plank work of the facade.
